Today we are excited to share our first post in a series of non-traditional wedding backdrops. First up is an absolutely stunning backdrop of trees hung with an array of romantic lanterns and candles. Read on to find out how to recreate this look!

The key to this look is variety. You’ll want to gather an assortment of lanterns and candles in different sizes to create dimension. Tea candles placed in glass terrariums can create a beautiful floating effect when viewed from afar.
A quick safety note: LED will be the safest way to go, given you’ll be hanging them on a live tree! Keep in mind if you do decide to go with real candles is that the flames can quickly burn through whatever gets in their way (including the ropes you may be using to tie them!)

Once you’ve gathered the candles and lanterns, it’s time to place them. As we said before, variety is key. You’ll want to place the lanterns and tea candles at different heights and not too uniform. In lieu of rope, fishing wire is a great alternative as it helps create that whimsical floating effect.

Don’t forget to include larger lanterns at the tree base to create a grounding effect and keep some extra batteries stocked to ensure you have ample glow time throughout your entire event.
Happy wedding planning!
